About Joe Carabello
Joe discovered his passion for journalism after a 24-year career in corporate sales. He returned to college classrooms in the late nineties to study journalism and took flight in this new venture in 2001. Since then, his work has appeared in local and regional publications, spanning multiple areas of interest.
He has reported on news, sports and business, and has written in-depth profiles about influential personalities. Joe has interviewed dignitaries, celebrities, and sports icons, while researching the backgrounds and vetting the nuances of his subjects. One such deep-dive notably revealed personal background about Joe's Cuban heritage, igniting a story about the untold journeys of lineage.
His curiosity drives his search for the backstories which make compelling reading.
Living in a high-density, urban environment provides an endless landscape for mining community issues, cultural phenomenon and humanity driven news. His background in business and amateur athletics gives him a unique perspective into the lives and impacts of these communities. A growing and refined appreciation of jazz and local government has recently led him to these arenas as well.
Joe honors his copy editors’ and executive editors’ suggestions and guidance, always willing to learn from those who ultimately make him a better writer.
Joe is also involved with his community outside of journalism, having founded and directed such programs as the charity Homeless Diamond which he ran in downtown Denver from 2011-2016.
In November 2021, Joe embarked on a new writing genre – TV scriptwriting. This has challenged his skill set and led him to the difficult worlds of creative writing and comedy writing. Along with cowriter Dianne Blomberg, Ph.D., he has completed two projects: Common Wall (stage play) and Happy Landing (TV rom-com series).
